Grading Procedures:
Daily Assignments
Points will be awarded according to the degree of difficulty/complexity of the assignments. Students earn points for wok completed. Daily assignments are given
to reinforce skills taught in the classroom.
Quizzes
Points are awarded according to the number of questions on the quiz. Quizzes are both
announced and unannounced. The purpose of the quiz is to asses student
comprehension of the skills taught.
Tests
Tests are 100 points or more and are announced. Tests are given to asses student
comprehension of one or more skills that have been taught.
Make-up work
If a student is absent it is the student’s responsibility to collect his/her
make-up work. A student is allowed two days per excused absence to schedule
make-up tests and complete missed assignments. Group projects will have to be
made up with a similar assignment. If possible, all tests need to be made up
during fourth block. Make-up tests will only be given on Wednesdays unless other
arrangements must be made.
Progress reports
A progress report will be given to each student 4 1/2 weeks into
each grading period. All progress reports must be signed and returned
immediately. This is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. If a student
is missing grades due to absences, etc. the grade will be averaged as if the
student had not done the assignment. This is to allow the parent/guardian and
the student to understand what the student's grade average will be if the work
is not completed
Entering and Leaving the Room
Students are required to be in the room and seated before
the tardy bell rings. If a student is not in the room with the door closed
behind him/her, he/she will be tardy and will be required to take the final
exam. Each student is allowed three emergency passes per trip out of the
room for the rest of the semester. Break time is a privilege and will only be
given when the teacher decides it has been earned by the entire class.
Academic
Dishonesty Policy
See the student handbook for disciplinary measures. If a
student is caught cheating a zero will be awarded for the work, regardless of
the assignment's point value. The giving or receiving of answers constitutes
cheating.
Parent/Teacher Communication
If a parent would like to schedule a conference he/she may call
the school office (467-7833) for an appointment. Parents and students may e-mail
me at nrichshsstclair@yahoo.com .
Communication is important. I want to know your concerns and keep parents up to
date with their children's progress.
All students will receive reasonable accordance with section 504, IDEA, NCLB, and The Americans with Disabilities Act.
Any student who is at risk of failure or has received a grade of "F" or any other grade that is unsatisfactory to him/her may arrange to meet with me.
