Course Description

A very large portion of the Alabama Graduation Exam for Mathematics is covered in this course and AlgAlgebra 1B is the second semester in a two semester course of Algebra 1. The topics covered are aligned with the Alabama Course Of Study for Algebra 1 and will be a continuation of those discussed in Algebra 1A as well as included new one such as quadratic equations, systems of linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, ebra 1B. You will be required to take the AHSGE upon successfully completion of both Algebra 1A and 1B. You must pass all portions of the exam to graduate high school.

Classroom Rules

  1. Be prepared and on time for class every day.

  2. Be respectful and cooperative.

  3. Bring all materials to class everyday.

  4. Do not leave your seat without permission.

  5. No food, candy, drink, or gum.

  6. Class is over when I dismiss you, not when the bell rings.

Grades

Tests: 60%

Quizzes: 20%

Class/homework: 20%

Tests

Test will be given every Friday and will concentrate mainly on Material learned during the week but can also include any material.

Quizzes

Quizzes will be given every Wednesday.

Notebook test

Notebook test will be given on Tuesday. it will count as a class work grade and may include anything from notes, class work, or homework.

Homework

Homework will be given almost every night. You are expected to complete all homework as assigned before coming to class the next day. It will be checked everyday for completeness only. NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.

****All work must be completed in pencil. no work in pen will be accepted.

Final Grade

Your final grade will consist of two nine week grade and comprehensive final exam. If You do not have to take the final exam( see exemption policy in student handbook), Your final grade will be the average of your two nine-week grade. If your are required to take the final exam, then each nine-weeks grade will count 40% of your final grade with the final exam county 20%.
