Grades

The percentages are for nine-week grades only.  Students final grades are based on the two nine weeks and the final exam.  Grades are not given but earned through the following ways:

    A.  Class work and Homework- 20%

  •     This will be posed on the board, emailed weekly and on the school's website.

  •     Late work is Not accepted unless student was absent or prior notice was given.

  •     Papers missing names will have a 10 point deduction.  Students not writing out the questions will receive a 20 point deduction the first time, and zeroes each time after.

  •     Homework is due at the beginning of class.

    B. Laboratory work and quizzes- 30%

  •     Lab is and intricate part of Biology; therefore it is very important that students be at the school in order to participate.

  •     Students are expected to pass the lab safety test with a 100 in order to participate in lab.

  •     They are also expected to adhere and follow All of the lab rules.  Students not following the rules will have points deducted accordingly.

  •     Lab policy states that students will  Not wear shorts, skirts, capris, flip-flops or open-toed shoes to lab.

  •     Lab make-up work: If you miss a lab due to an excused absence, you can make up the lab on moodle. If you fail to make-up the lab, it will result in a zero.

    C. Tests- 50%

  •     Students will be tested every one to two chapters.  On occasion we will have three or four chapter tests.

  •     Tests will consist of a combination of True/False, multiple choice, labeling, math problems, and/or fill in the blank questions.

  •     Test make-up day: Make-up tests will be given on scheduled days either before school (7:15) or after school (3:00) or during an elective class with permission from that teacher.  Students are responsible for making arrangements to take make up tests.

  •     Students who go on field trips are considered to be present at school and are responsible for anything done in class the day of the field trip.  Tests will be make up the next day.

  •     If a student misses the day before a test or quiz that was announced previously, the student is required to take the test or quiz on the scheduled day, barring no new material was presented.

Attendance & Disciplinary Policies: Please check new policy in handbook

  • The attendance policy will be strictly enforced including class tardiness.  Demerits and tardy slips will be handed out according to school procedures as listed in the hand-book.

  • If a student misses a day(s) it is his/her responsibility to see the teacher to make-up any work missed.  Students have two days (by system) policy for each day missed to make-up and turn in work.

  • Tardies and check in/outs are counted as not having perfect attendance for a class.
