The purpose of this course is to help each student build a firm foundation of driving knowledge and safe driving skills. A Boating Safety unit will also be taught within the course. This will allow each student the possibility of obtaining a boating license. The course consists of 30 hrs. of classroom instruction followed by actual "behind the wheel" driving
There is a $20 Fee.
You can not get your drivers license or your permit. You can get your boating license.
Driver and traffic safety education is offered as an elective course primarily for tenth-grade students who are fifteen years of age or older and who are eligible to obtain an Alabama Learner License.
The goal of driver and traffic safety education---to learn the fundamentals of safe and responsible driving within a variety of environments. This goal is attained thorough the required minimum 30 hours of classroom instruction. Actual hands-on or performance based driving in a vehicle is also required.
The classroom phase includes content regarding highway license requirements, traffic laws, responsible ownership, driving procedures and maneuvers, factors related to youthful drivers, physical and mental impairments, other highway users, driving environments, and boating safety.
