CHEMISTRY SYLLABUS

Course Description 

The content standards in which the students will be learning, investigating, and studying will be based on the Alabama Course of Study for Chemistry with correlation to the Alabama High School Graduation Exam for science.  Example topics include scientific knowledge emphasizing in-depth study of the periodic table, solutions, nuclear concepts, properties and changes in matter, structures of atoms, interactions of matter and energy, etc.

Fee Request

A donation of $30.00 will be greatly appreciated in order to purchase laboratory supplies such as chemicals, lab equipment, gloves, etc. This is our only means to attend labs and perform laboratory assignments. Please bring fees as soon as possible.

Grading

I do not give grades! I expect each student to do their absolute best to earn their grades. The student grades are weighted in the following manner:

It is a parent's (guardian's) and student's responsibility to acknowledge his or her progress or grade throughout the school year.

Attendance 

It is extremely important to attend all class meetings because this class will be moving at a steady pace with numerous activities, assignments, notes, etc. Make up work will be difficult if a lot of time is missed. Make up work is completed at home and not during regular class time. Absolutely, no make up work will be accepted after two days. Make up tests will be scheduled on specific prearranged day. It is the student's responsibility to obtain and complete any make up work or test.

1.    Respect everyone.

2.    Be in your seat when the bell rings.

3.    Come to class prepared.

4.    Sit in your assigned seat daily.

5.    Follow directions the first time they are given.

BIOLOGY SYLLABUS

The content standards in which the students will be learning, investigating, and studying will be based on the Alabama Course of Study for Earth Science with correlation to the Alabama High School Graduation Exam for Science.  Example topics include sources of energy and energy transfer among the atmosphere, weather patterns and climate, life cycle of stars, challenges and required technologies for space exploration, ect.
