As of now, practices are scheduled beginning with the first week of May, two days each week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Students will receive exact practice dates prior to the first rehearsal. To receive credit for being at practice, students must be present at the practice's start. Students not attending 80 per cent of practices will not be allowed to participate in either program.
BACCALAUREATE
Baccalaureate is an optional program. Please keep in mind that this is an opportunity for your family members to come to see you in a graduation activity in the event they are unable to come to graduation. Your family is required to have a ticket to get in the graduation ceremony and unfortunately we can't provide tickets for your entire family. If you participate in baccalaureate your entire family can come to watch.
That being said, there are requirements for baccalaureate, in that you must attend a certain amount of the practices in order to be in the program. You must listen to the announcements to know when practices are being held. Please advise your parents on what baccalaureate entails before you decide that you don't want to participate. If you do not come to the practices you cannot be on the stage at the baccalaureate service. Also, please remember that graduation is not just about you. Your parents are very proud of you and your accomplishments and would like for you to be involved in all graduation events. The senior slide show will also be played before the service. The same practices you will attend for baccalaureate are also for the senior assembly. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us.
Seniors must be dressed in gown and on stage at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Northpark Church. The baccalaureate program will be presented at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Northpark Church. Seniors will wear gowns without caps during this program.

Dear Seniors,
Welcome to four of the fastest months you'll ever experience. Every year seniors take off their caps and gowns at the Alabama Theatre, wondering where the time has gone. A lot will happen between now and graduation. I don't want you to miss an opportunity.
Springville High School has fifteen local scholarships given each year to graduating seniors. You are encouraged to apply for any of these scholarships for which you are qualified.
The due date should be your biggest concern. Applications are available via the school web site under announcements or going directly to http://csmithshs.wikispaces.com. Applications are all due back to me on Monday, April 2. That may be two months away, but don't procrastinate. In many cases, your only contact with the scholarship donors will be through these written applications. You'll want to submit them mistake-free, and that will take time.
Some of the scholarship applications are more involved than others, but most of them will require a resume and cover letter. Most teachers will be glad to advise you about these items if you ask. Also, since our school and community have grown so much, there is a good chance that the scholarship donors do not know you. For that reason, you may want to consider providing a small photo of yourself with your applications. Since you probably won't get the applications back, don't use expensive photos.
Finally, please do not make the mistake some seniors have made in the past. There seems to be a prevailing notion that only a select few will get the scholarships. The groups giving our eighteen local scholarships employ wide-ranging curricula in their selection process. Some look at grades. Some look for students going to vocational school. Some look for hard work ethics. Some look for minority applicants. The point is that everyone will be considered. The only sure way to not get a scholarship is to not apply. Good luck in the process.
Sincerely,
Clay Smith

Seniors:
If your parents would like to buy a Baby Ad to go in the yearbook your money and information are due by March 23rd.
Full Page: $200
Half Page: $100
Quarter Page: $60
Only one or two pictures will fit on the quarter page, but you may have as many as you would like on the full and half pages. The following is an example of what the parents write. (Obviously more can be written on half and full page ads.)
Dear Sally,
I can’t believe that you are graduating from high school. You have worked so hard, and we are so proud of all that you have accomplished so far in your life. We wish you nothing but the best in your future.
We Love You!
